School Nutrition Program

These pages are designed to provide information about the MSAD #58 School Nutrition Program.

All schools in MSAD #58 participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and serve breakfast and lunch daily. This program is administered by the United States Department of Agriculture. According to the USDA website....
"The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. The program was established under the National School Lunch Act, signed by President Harry Truman in 1946."

This is the first year that I have been involved with the MSAD #58 lunch program and I have quickly realized that there are many factors involved in the program that most people are not aware of. My goal here is to provide information to help parents and community members understand the program better and document the changes that we are making in an effort to improve our program.
